At the October 1 8th Umbrella Quarterly Meeting, Lou Weiss
resigned as
President of the Umbrella Board. Mr. Weiss will continue as a director until
his term
is up in February, 1996. The Umbrella Board of Directors would like to thank
Mr.
Weiss for all the effort and time he has given to our community as President.

Regarding the plans of the Village of Mundelein to
oth expand and centralize their Waste Water
Treatment Plant just south of the Village Limits of
Libertyville, a Meeting, requested by the Riva Ridge
Umbrella Association, was convened by Libertyville
Mayor JoAnn Eckmann and attended by Mundelein
Mayor Marilyn Sindles, their Village Administrator
Ken Mirabella, and Umbrella Board Association
President Lou Weiss on October 4. The result is that
the Mayor of Mundelein will send a written
communication to the Mayor of Libertyville and to
Riva Ridge assuring all parties that, upon completion
of this project two years from now, there will be no
higher level of odor discharges than the level of
discharge (virtually none) of the Libertyville Waste
Water Treatment Plant which was expanded and
modernized in 1994. This should alleviate the large
number of complaints from Riva Ridge residents and
represents a sound solution to a long-standing
robiem in our Community.
Information from Residential I Association
The board and management company would like to wish all homeowners a Happy
Thanksgiving and remind them of some fall and winter tips.
lease disconnect all hoses and store them in your arages. Hoses left attached
during
freezing weather may cause pipes to break during the winter or leak in spring
when
you turn on the water.
If you plan on leaving your unit vacant for an extended period of time,
do not set the
thermostat below 62 degrees. Leave cabinet doors under sinks opened and
all
bathroom doors opened.
The following message is issued jointly by the Boards of the Umbrella Association,
Residential Association I. and Residential Association II:
HOLIDAYS ARE ALMOST HERE . . .
LET'S THINK ABOUT DECORATING
Last year was a wonderful Holiday Season in Riva Ridge. The decorations
wer
beautiful, tasteful, and very much in keeping with the rules and regulations
of al three
associations.
There were only a few instances where residents were asked to remove certain
decorations because they are not permitted by the Rules and Regulations
we all
approved and agreed to abide by.
This year, instead of dwelling on what is NOT permitted, we have been asked
to spell
out the variety of decorating you CAN do.
Before planning your decorations, however, keep in mind that nothing is
permitted to
be affixed, hung, or placed on any portion of a building exterior, balconies,
lampposts,
mail boxes, sidewalks, driveways, or lawns.
With this as the basic, overall guideline, let's see how many ways there
are to dress
up your home, and still be in compliance:
1. The inside of your unit is yours to decorate in any way you see fit.
Just be careful about potential fire or electrical hazards.
2. The inside of windows or glass storm doors are great for wreaths,
holly, spray-on snow, sparkle, ribbons, and even twinkling lights.
3. Small, non-electric wreaths or ribbons may be placed over or hung
from coach-lights located on the building or front wall of garages.
4. Holiday theme flags may be flown from the same bracket normally
used to display American flags.
5. Shrubs and evergreen trees may be strung with lights to create
outside festivity. Caution should be taken to use only UL a~roved.
outdoor cords, and to plug them into the weather-proof outlets near
your front and rear entrances. Do nQ~ plug into the lampposts or
carriage light fixtures. Neither should you replace their special
bulbs with colored lights.
6. When in doubt, contact your managing agent before doing anything
not clearly spelled out. The following are the management agents
and telephone numbers for each association:
Residential Association I
Residential Association II
Umbrella Association
Kalman Management/362-9624
ASI Management/459-6565
ASI Management/459-6565
7. Please don't activate your decorations until after Thanksgiving and
and have them removed by January 6, 1996.
Thanks for your cooperation and have a great yearl
